Kwara United Football Club will continue its preparation for the NPFL 2024/25 season in Ikenne, at the Remo Stars sports facility, despite exiting the Valuejet Preseason tournament, according to Kumbi Titiloye, the club's chairman.
This comes as the technical crew of the club, led by Coach Kabir Suleiman Dogo, stated that the campaign at the tournament produced useful outcomes for the team.
Explaining the rationale behind the club's decision to stay in the historical town of Ogun State, Titiloye said that the facility and peaceful ambiance of the location will aid the players' buildup.
"We're continuing our training in Ikenne because we want to maximize the facility to achieve our rebuilding process with absolute concentration," said Titiloye.
Regarding the club's exit from the tournament in the preliminary stages, Titiloye allayed concerns, stating that the Valuejet Cup served its purpose by helping the technical crew assemble players with the right disposition for the team.
"The NPFL is a marathon, and it is different from preseason. Our training is based on marathon games," he added.
Coach Dogo emphasized that the competition provided useful lessons and helped the coaches assess the players. "We can say that we now have a clear idea of the players we want to work with, which was the purpose for which we came," said Coach Dogo.
