KV Oostende unlikely to secure full deal for Celtic-owned Nigerian defender

KV Oostende is reportedly set to forego the opportunity of signing Osaze Urhoghide, the Dutch-born Nigerian central defender owned by Celtic, on a permanent basis during the summer transfer window.
According to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, a significant number of players, including Urhoghide, are expected to depart KV Oostende at the end of the season.
Following their relegation from the Jupiler Pro League to the Challenger Pro League and with a reduced budget, the club is unlikely to pursue a permanent deal for Urhoghide.
The 22-year-old, who was initially loaned to KV Oostende for the second half of the previous season with an option to buy, has found his name on the list of players heading towards the exit door.
Due to the high cost associated with acquiring Urhoghide permanently at the end of the 2021-2022 campaign, he had to return to the club on a season-long loan this past summer, with another option to buy negotiated between KV Oostende and Celtic.
As per the Belgian newspaper, KV Oostende still finds the purchase clause too expensive, further diminishing the likelihood of securing Urhoghide's services permanently.
During his time at KV Oostende, the young center back made a total of 36 appearances across all competitions spanning one and a half seasons.
While Urhoghide remains under contract with Celtic until June 2025, it appears that he does not feature in their plans, evidenced by his solitary appearance for the Hoops since his transfer from Sheffield Wednesday.
