Kogi United FC's management made an announcement on Monday regarding key changes in the coaching staff. They revealed that Coach Yusuf Salihu, formerly with Apex Krane, has been appointed as the new Chief Coach, and Coach Chidi Oji has been elevated to the position of Technical Adviser for the club.
The brief ceremony introducing the new appointees took place at the Club Chairman's office within the Glass House of the Kogi State Government House in Lokoja.
Chairman of Kogi United FC, Abdulmalik Isah, warmly welcomed the new Chief Coach and encouraged him to bring his extensive experience to benefit the club. He emphasized that Coach Salihu's track record and previous work experience speak highly of his capabilities, making him the right choice for the position.
Mallam Tijani Ibrahim, Team Manager of Kogi United FC, explained that Coach Yusuf Salihu was selected from a pool of coaches due to his strong discipline, influenced by his military background, and his deep understanding of Nigerian football. He stressed that absolute discipline is a fundamental factor for achieving success in any organization, and he believes the new coach can instill this quality both on and off the field.
Expressing gratitude, Coach Yusuf Salihu thanked the club's management, under the leadership of Abdulmalik Isah, for considering him worthy of the Chief Coach position. He pledged not to disappoint and expressed his concern for Kogi United FC, a prominent club that has faced challenges in the league almost every year. He emphasized that with commitment, discipline, dedication, and trust, the club can attain its goals.
Coach Yusuf stated, "Commitment, loyalty, cohesion, dedication to duty, trust, and a very good working relationship are a few basic ingredients needed by an organization to produce optimum results." He assured that the team would work aggressively and diligently to achieve positive outcomes.
He also committed to collaborating closely with the Technical Adviser and the rest of the technical staff to help Kogi United FC reclaim its rightful place in Nigerian football.
The newly promoted Technical Adviser, Coach Chidi Oji, expressed appreciation for the management's support and stated that the coaching team would work diligently to avoid past mistakes in the upcoming season.
