Kennedy Boboye has begun showcasing his in-depth knowledge of the Nigeria League by leading his new team, Heartland FC of Owerri, to their first-ever win in 12 matches in the current 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Boboye, who was appointed about three weeks ago, has yet to lose an official game in the two league matches he has overseen from the technical bench of the Naze Millionaires, following the dismissal of the erstwhile coach Onu, who was accused of incompetence.
The faith bestowed upon Boboye, a two-time winner of the Nigeria League, is already paying off as he has guided the Owerri-based team to a two-match unbeaten streak.
Just this Sunday, Heartland FC traveled to Ibadan to secure a point against all odds from their eternal rivals, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan. It is, however, on record that Boboye has never lost a match against the Oluyole Warriors.
Boboye followed this up by earning a 1-0 win over Bendel Insurance, a team widely known for being thrifty in conceding goals, whether at home or away. This also means that the Owerri Millionaires have kept two clean sheets.
Austin Osanyande scored the only goal of the day in the 51st minute of play.
All efforts by the Benin Arsenals to pull one back ended in futility as the hosts kept their three-point mandate intact.
