Kendry Paez: Chelsea plans to pay more than £17 million to capture the young phenomenal South American

The best footballers that South America has to offer are typically identified with either Brazil or Argentina, but one young Ecuadorian is determined to change that perception.

Kendry Paez has a history of hanging with the elite. The attacking midfielder, who has outgrown both the Under-17 and Under-19 teams, has already made his debut for Independiente del Valle in his native country at the age of just 15, grabbing the interest of some of Europe's top clubs in the process.

Paez's attention has recently been on national team responsibilities in the South American U17 Championship on home soil, and he has been shining brilliantly. A move to Chelsea looms when Paez turns 18 in 2025.

In just seven games, Ecuador's 15-year-old superstar has contributed six assists and one goal in a really incredible individual tournament, and the team presently leads the rankings in the final round.

Looking back on a career that is still in its early stages is unusual, yet Paez has gone so far in such a short period of time.
