Katsina United FC appeals N1M fine, closure of stadium

Posted : 05 November 2023
The Management of Katsina United FC has filed a formal appeal with the NPFL against the club's jurisdiction for a N1 million fine and the closure of Muhammadu Dikko Stadium Katsina for one match.

This is stated in a letter written by the Club's Interim Management Committee Chairman, Alh Kabir Dan'lami Rimi, to the NPFL Head of Operations, Mr. Davidson Owumi.

In the letter, the Club's Interim Chairman, Alh Kabir Dan'lami, appealed to the NPFL leadership to reconsider the sanctions imposed on the club because nothing transpired during the Club's match against Sunshine Stars on MD 5 of the ongoing season.

The Chairman stated that the Club will continue to do everything possible to ensure that adequate security measures are implemented.

Kabir Dan'lami further stated that the Club would not violate the NPFL framework or rules in any way that could result in fines.

Recall that the Nigeria Premier Football League board fined Katsina United N1 million and ordered the club to play their next home game behind closed doors for failing to provide adequate security during their Match Day 5 encounter against Sunshine Stars.

According to the communique, the Changi Boys' management was ordered to pay the fine within 14 days or risk further sanctions. The club has 48 hours to accept or appeal the sanction.

The NPFL board also ordered the club to put in place an effective matchday security plan to avoid a recurrence, which will lead to stiffer sanctions.

The management of Katsina United has therefore responded accordingly with the appeal filed before the expiration of the deadline.
