The Katsina State team defeated their counterparts from Kwara by a lone goal to retain the trophy as the defending champions of the 2024 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu U-18 Boys Peace Soccer Tournament.
En route to the final, the Katsina State team played five matches, scoring 14 times, conceding no goals, with five clean sheets and zero defeats, setting a new record for the competition.
Similarly, the team won the Best Goalkeeper award and that of Coach of the Tournament, while the Kwara state team, who became runners-up, received the Best Player of the Tournament award.
The winners of the tournament were presented with a trophy and gold medals, while the runners-up received silver medals, and the 3rd place Kebbi State team received certificates.
The National Vice President of YSFON, Mustapha Allah-dey, expressed gratitude for the conduct of the tournament and acknowledged the support of the Katsina State Government, which made the competition a successful one.
Mustapha Allah-dey also commended the participating states for exhibiting sportsmanship and discipline throughout the tournament.
