Former Real Madrid star Karim Benzema has advised Kylian Mbappe to adjust his style of play to succeed in the Spanish capital. Benzema believes that for Mbappe to fit into the Real Madrid lineup, he must adapt to playing as a central striker rather than vying for the left-wing position, which is dominated by Vinicius Junior. Benzema expressed his view that Mbappe, who naturally prefers to play off the left, is currently facing challenges in his new central role under coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Benzema highlighted that Vinicius is indispensable on the left, where he consistently excels, making it unlikely that Mbappe could displace him from that position. According to Benzema, Mbappe might struggle to thrive as a central striker, noting that this isn’t his natural position, even when he plays for the French national team. However, he advised Mbappe to persist and work hard to adapt, as playing centrally could ultimately strengthen his game at Real Madrid.
The former Ballon d'Or winner also cautioned Mbappe about the pressures he would face as a central striker, particularly if he goes a few games without scoring. Benzema, who spent 14 seasons with Madrid before joining Al-Ittihad, emphasized that patience and dedication will be key to Mbappe’s success. As Real Madrid prepares to face AC Milan in the Champions League, the pressure on Mbappe to perform remains high, with fans eager to see him fully adjust to his new role.
