The Nationwide League One, NLO, secretariat Friday said that the opening encounter of the 2023 league season would be played at Sani Abacha stadium, May 3, by 3.p.m.
The secretariat also disclosed that Kano City had been confirmed to host the official kick-off game to mark the commencement of its 2023 season.
The NLO said Kano Pillars JNR are scheduled to trade tackles against arch rival Kwankwasiyya FC on May 3 to ignite the start of hostilities across the country in Nigeria’s third tier league.
The Chief Operating Officer, COO of NLO, Olushola Ogunnowo added: “The Nationwide League One Secretariat hereby wishes to inform all the clubs’ in the League that due to circumstances beyond our control we are forced to shift the earlier communicated date of commencement of the Nationwide League One season.
“Sequel to above, kindly find the new dates for our activities, press briefing and unveiling on Wednesday, April 26.
“2023 season kick-off, Wednesday, May 3. Opening match: Kano Pillars Jnr versus Kwankwasiya FC at Sani Abacha Stadium, Wednesday, May 3,'' he said.
