The board of the Kano State Super League (KSSL) has announced a mid-season break following the conclusion of the first round of matches this season.
The league organizing body declared a three-week mid-season break, allowing clubs to extend the holiday into the new year, 2025.
The first round of the KSSL 2024 season concluded this week, with 8 matches played across the 16 teams participating in the tournament.
The Matchday 8 results included Barau U-19 thrashing Tactical FC 5-1, Shield City defeating Famous Spiders 6-3, Clever Warriors edging out Elmer FC 2-1, and Junior Pillars drawing 1-1 with Pillars U-19.
In other matches, Prime Eagles beat Alfindiki 3-1, Ahzuba FC won against Matasa FC 3-1, Dream Big FA defeated ProLine 3-1, and Kano Cars triumphed over Continue FC with an emphatic 8-2 victory.
A total of 41 goals were scored across all 8 matches, with Naziro Gero of Prime Eagles maintaining his position as the league’s top scorer with 11 goals.
Meanwhile, Ahzuba FC ended the first stanza as league leaders with 22 points, the same as Kano Pillars U-19 in second position.
Shield City FA, Clever Warriors, Junior Pillars, Elmer FA, and Barau U-19 occupied third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh positions, with 21, 16, 16, 15, and 13 points, respectively.
The league is set to resume in the last week of January 2025 with the second round of matches. FC Continue Mandawari remains in the relegation zone with just 3 points from eight matches.
