The Kano State government has announced the dismissal of newly appointed coach Paul Offor after just a few days in office, which could be the shortest tenure for a coach in the history of top-flight football in Nigeria.
This decision follows the revocation of his contract as the newly appointed coach of Kano Pillars by the state government today, July 14, 2024.
Wasilu Kawo, a member of the club’s media and marketing committee, disclosed that the state government has terminated the contract of the former Sporting Lagos head coach.
“Kano State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, has dismissed the appointment of Paul Offor as the new coach of Kano Pillars,” Kawo stated on the official platform of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano chapter.
“The contracting and unveiling of Paul Offor were carried out without proper consultations with the relevant arms of government responsible for supervising the activities of the club.”
Earlier today, the Kano State government dissolved the Pillars’ board that had unveiled Offor at a ceremony in Kano on Friday, July 12, 2024.
