Kano Pillars seal Northwest derby with 1-0 win over Katsina United

It was a double edged sweet victory for Kano Pillars on Saturday as they pulled a narrow one nill win over next neighbour, Katsina United FC.

Given that both teams came from the lower league to play in the elite league, crazy Kano football fans filled the stadium to watch their darling Sai Mai Gida's first league game which was not in any way disappointing.

Ibrahim Mustapha scored the only goal of the game in the 27th-minute and that was all Kano Pillars needed to bag all three points against visiting Katsina United at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano in the third fixture.

Kano Pillars lost by the same margin to Sunshine Stars in an opening day’s tie at Akure Township Stadium, while Katsina were 1-0 victorious against Kwara United at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.
