The Maiden edition of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu National U-18 Boys Peace Football Tournament has begun in Katsina.
Governor Dikko Umar Radda opened the competition at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.
Kano, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, Bauchi, Ekiti, Kwara, FCT, and Katsina are among the states represented at the tournament's opening ceremony, with many more states on the way.
Governor Dikko Umar Radda, represented by the State Sports Commissioner Aliyu Lawal Zakari Shargalle, declared the competition open and promised the participating states their safety throughout their stay in Katsina State.
The governor stated that hosting the competition is part of the present administration's strategy for boosting sporting activities in the state.
Dikko Umar Radda used the occasion to thank the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) for organizing the competition, which allows youths to showcase their ability and talents.
He encouraged all participating states to be polite and exhibit sportsmanship to achieve their goals.
Alh Mustapha Allah-Dey, who is the National Vice President of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), extended gratitude to the Katsina State Government for sponsoring and hosting the competition.
Mustapha Allah-Dey disclosed that the competition is being organized to honor President Bola Tinubu for his contributions to the growth of all sporting activities in the country.
Mustapha Allah-Dey noted that the competition also provides an opportunity for young skilled players in the country to demonstrate their abilities and talent, as scouts are on hand to select the finest among them.
The opening ceremony's highlights include past matches by the participating states.
