Transfer Buzz: Bayern eyes Kalvin Phillips, Newcastle targets Emile Smith Rowe, and more transfer updates

Posted : 13 October 2023
Manchester City's Kalvin Phillips has piqued the interest of Bayern Munich, while Arsenal's Emile Smith Rowe may be the target of a January move by Newcastle. Additionally, Tomas Soucek of West Ham could potentially join Inter Milan on a free transfer at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere, Arsenal's U18 head coach, has received permission to discuss a managerial role with MLS side Colorado Rapids.

Bayern Munich is reportedly considering a "surprise exit route" for Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City. According to The Sun, Bayern is closely monitoring his situation, with a potential move in either the January or summer transfer window. Thomas Tuchel, Bayern's chief, is looking to bolster their midfield, and a similar arrangement to their loan of Joao Cancelo from City last winter could be appealing for Phillips.

Emile Smith Rowe, an Arsenal player, is emerging as a possible target for Newcastle in the upcoming January transfer window. Smith Rowe has had limited playing time with Arsenal this season, prompting discussions within Newcastle's recruitment team about a potential move. While Smith Rowe has been linked with West Ham, Arsenal may face pressure to allow him to leave if they receive an acceptable offer. The possibility of a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer is preferred by Newcastle.

West Ham's Tomas Soucek, a standout midfielder, might join Inter Milan as a free agent at the end of the season. Soucek's contract with West Ham is set to expire in June 2024, but the club has an option to extend it by another year. However, if Soucek expresses his desire to leave, West Ham may not activate the extension clause, potentially leading to a free transfer to Inter Milan.

Jack Wilshere Granted Permission for Colorado Rapids Managerial Talks
Former England midfielder Jack Wilshere, currently Arsenal's U18 head coach, has been granted permission to discuss a managerial role with MLS side Colorado Rapids. Arsenal has allowed Wilshere to engage in talks with the Rapids, and he is keen on securing a senior managerial role if the right opportunity arises. The final decision regarding his appointment with the MLS side is pending.
