Juventus to pay £620,000 fine, accept 10-point penalty to end case

Posted : 31 May 2023
As part of a settlement agreement with the Italian football regulators on a dispute involving the payment of player salary, Juventus will pay a fine of 718,000 euros (£620,000).

Last week, Juventus was penalised 10 points as a result of a different inquiry into the team's prior transfer deals.

Juventus will not lose any more points as a result of the deal because they accepted the 10-point punishment.

Any unresolved disputes surrounding the Turin club are now over.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) also fined former vice-chairman Pavel Nedved and former sporting director and managing director Fabio Paratici in addition to the club's overall penalty.

Andrea Agnelli, the club's former president, was not a part of the most recent agreement and will have a separate hearing on June 15 after having his appeal against the two-year suspension upheld earlier this month.

Juventus claimed in a statement that the arrangement will help the team get out of a state of stress and uncertainty and reach a clear result.

Juve was first given a 15-point punishment for transfer deals in January, but Italy's top sporting court reversed that judgement in April and mandated a re-examination of the matter.

The most recent 10-point deduction caused them to fall to seventh place in Serie A, outside of the slots required to qualify for Europe.

Juventus, who trail Roma by just one point and Atalanta, who is now in fifth place, by two points, have a chance to go to the Europa League or Europa Conference League.
