Italian Serie A powerhouse Juventus is reportedly preparing a bid to acquire Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, offering Douglas Luiz plus an additional €13 million.
The 27-year-old Super Eagles attacker has been strongly linked with a move to Juventus in recent weeks. Since joining Atalanta in 2022, Lookman has delivered impressive performances, establishing himself as a key player for the club.
Throughout his time with La Dea, Lookman has accumulated 46 goals and 25 assists in 106 matches across various competitions. However, his standout moment came in the Europa League final last season, where he scored a memorable hat-trick. Despite attracting interest from major clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, and PSG last summer, Atalanta chose to retain him.
This season, Lookman has continued to showcase top-class performances, fueling ongoing speculation about his future. Over the past two weeks, rumors of a potential switch to Juventus have gained momentum in Italian football circles.
According to a report from Dire Giovani, Juventus intends to present an offer involving Douglas Luiz and €13 million in cash to secure Lookman at the end of the season. However, it remains uncertain whether Atalanta would accept this proposal, as their midfield is well-stocked unless they lose a key player in the summer. Additionally, the club may prefer a straight cash deal closer to their €55 million valuation rather than a player swap. Luiz, who was signed for €51 million last summer, has yet to fully justify his price tag, making Atalanta cautious about the deal. Lookman’s current contract runs until 2026, with an option for a one-year extension, though a renewal seems unlikely.
Atalanta now faces a crucial decision regarding Lookman’s future. If he declines a contract extension, they may be forced to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for a reduced fee later on.
The Nigerian forward’s market value is currently estimated at €55 million on Transfermarkt, though Atalanta might demand a higher fee. Despite Juventus' interest, Lookman reportedly favors a return to the Premier League, where he began his professional career and spent his formative years.
