Juventus' Paul Pogba Set to Take Another Break After Suffering a Thigh Injury Taking Free Kicks

Posted : 09 April 2023
Paul Pogba, a midfielder for Juventus, may need to take yet another break after hurting his thigh while taking free kicks.

The opening of France's Euro 2024 qualifying campaign will be missed by the 29-year-old and be out for around three weeks.
He was not present for Juve's 4-2 victory over Sampdoria on Sunday after being benched for last week's Europa League victory over Freiburg.

After Sunday's game, Massimiliano Allegri, coach of Juventus “This morning Pogba was taking free-kicks and felt a twinge in his adductor”

Pogba received a medical examination on Monday, according to a club statement, and he has suffered "a low-grade tear to his right thigh adductor".
“He has already started with the rehabilitation process aimed at resuming competitive activity” it added.

After being late for a squad meeting last Wednesday, Pogba was benched for the first game, and Juve will play Freiburg in the second leg on Thursday.

Since returning to Juventus from Manchester United last summer, Pogba has only played as a substitute twice, with the first of those appearances occurring on February 28.

Pogba suffered a calf injury in April 2022, which ruled him out for the remainder of last season. The 2018 World Cup winner initially avoided surgery due to fear of missing the World Cup. But he suffered another muscular problem, delaying his return to action.

The first match for Juventus following the break will be against Hellas Verona on April 1.
