Julian Alvarez of Manchester City has etched his name in the annals of football history after an extraordinary six months, becoming the first player ever to achieve a remarkable treble of winning the European Cup, league title, and domestic cup, along with a World Cup, all in a single season.
While nine players before him had managed to secure the European Cup or Champions League and the World Cup in the same season, none had accomplished the additional feat of winning the domestic double. Alvarez's incredible achievement sets him apart in football lore.
Despite starting in fewer than half of Manchester City's matches, the 23-year-old Argentine forward finished the season as the team's second top scorer with an impressive tally of 17 goals. Moreover, he was the third top scorer in the 2022 World Cup.
Manchester City secured the Premier League title with a five-point lead over Arsenal, triumphed over Manchester United in the FA Cup final, and emerged victorious against Inter Milan in the Champions League final. Furthermore, Alvarez had the privilege of celebrating Argentina's victory over France in the World Cup final held in December.
Although Alvarez did not make an appearance on the field during Manchester City's 1-0 victory over Inter in Istanbul, he still had the joy of lifting the coveted Champions League trophy, marking a crowning moment in his exceptional season.
