James Maddison will not be part of England's 26-man squad for Euro 2024, according to reports from British media.
The Tottenham midfielder was included in Gareth Southgate's initial 33-man training group but did not make the final cut for the tournament in Germany, as confirmed by the BBC and Sky Sports. England, one of the favorites for the Euros, will start the competition in just over a week.
Maddison, 27, was a substitute in England's 3-0 friendly win against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday. Despite a strong start to the Premier League season, his form dipped, leading to his exclusion. He has seven international caps but faced intense competition for a spot in the squad.
England will play their final pre-tournament friendly against Iceland at Wembley on Friday, with Southgate's final squad announcement expected on Saturday. England will compete in a group with Slovenia, Denmark, and Serbia.
