Fulham's official website has announced that Alex Iwobi's dramatic injury-time winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford has earned the title of Fulham's Goal of the Month for February 2024. The decisive goal came after Manchester United, seeking a victory following Harry Maguire's late equalizer, faced a significant setback against the Cottagers.
In the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time, the Super Eagles playmaker, Alex Iwobi, delivered the crucial blow, slotting the ball past Manchester United's goalkeeper Andre Onana and placing it into the bottom corner, concluding yet another quick counterattack.
Despite missing a couple of opportunities in the first half, Iwobi's goal proved to be the highlight of the month, securing him the monthly accolade. He faced competition from teammates such as Calvin Bassey, Rodrigo Muniz, Callum Osmand, Lemar Gordon, and Georgia Heasman.
Iwobi's goal received the highest fan votes, garnering 57.2 percent of the total, surpassing Rodrigo Muniz’s lob at Burnley, which secured second place with 13 percent. Other notable goals, including Rodrigo Muniz's goal against Aston Villa and Callum Osmand's effort versus Everton U21s, claimed 8.5 percent and 8 percent of the votes, respectively.
Despite not securing accolades in previous Goal of the Month nominations in September, November, and December, Iwobi's impressive performance since his deadline day move to Fulham from the Hale End Academy has seen him tally five goals in twenty-two all-competition appearances.
