Iwobi is Everton's second most expensive player

On Tuesday, June 20, Transfermarkt, the renowned football statistics and transfer news website, released updated market values for players in the English Premier League, with Alex Iwobi notably experiencing a surge in his market value following an impressive season with Everton.

The versatile playmaker's exceptional performances throughout the season have earned him recognition, most notably being awarded the Players' Player of the Season at Everton Men's End of Season Awards. 

Iwobi played a pivotal role in helping the Toffees narrowly avoid relegation on the final day of the 2022-2023 season.

Iwobi's contributions extended beyond his club performances, as he played a vital part in Nigeria's successful qualification for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. 

Remarkably, he is the sole player who featured in every match played by the national team during the 2022-2023 campaign.

As a testament to his growth and impact, the market value of the Nigerian international has risen to €28 million, marking his highest valuation since September 12, 2019, shortly after his record-breaking transfer to Everton for £35 million, the highest fee ever paid for a player of Nigerian descent at that time.

Within the Everton squad, Iwobi currently holds the distinction of being the second most valuable player, trailing only Amadou Onana, who boasts a market value of €45 million.

In terms of Nigerian players in the global football landscape, Iwobi ranks as the third most expensive, with international teammates Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman surpassing him in valuation. 

Osimhen holds an impressive market value of €120 million, while Lookman is valued at €30 million.

With Iwobi's market value on the rise, his continued development and contributions on both the club and international stage solidify his status as a highly sought-after player, garnering attention and recognition within the football community.
