Italian-Nigerian left-back Destiny Udogie showcased his talents with extended game time as Tottenham Hotspur secured a convincing 5-1 victory against Lion City Sailors in a friendly match at the Singapore National Stadium.
Udogie earned his place in the starting XI, with Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou making one change from the previous friendly against Leicester City.
Udogie's impressive performance saw him replace Sergio Reguilon, who had started in the team's earlier pre-season fixture against West Ham United.
During the game, Shawal Anuar opened the scoring for Lion City Sailors in the 14th minute, but Harry Kane's penalty in first-half stoppage time leveled the score going into halftime.
In the second half, Postecoglou made several substitutions, including Udogie being replaced by Reguilon. Tottenham quickly took control of the game with a swift brace from Richarlison, putting them ahead 3-1 by the 51st minute.
Although Richarlison had two goals disallowed for offside, he eventually secured a well-deserved hat-trick in the first minute of stoppage time after Giovani Lo Celso had added to Tottenham's lead in the 73rd minute.
Looking ahead, Udogie and his teammates are set to face tougher opposition in their next pre-season friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk on August 6. Udogie's impressive display in the friendly match against Lion City Sailors has likely caught the attention of the Tottenham coaching staff as they assess their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
