"He possesses a significant engine" - The Italian leader commends Tottenham's Udogie for his prowess in defense

Italy's coach, Luciano Spalletti, expressed his confidence in Destiny Udogie to have a significant impact when Italy faces England in the 2024 European Championship qualifier at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night.

Due to the 20-year-old's impressive performance at the beginning of this season for Tottenham in the Premier League, Spalletti made the decision to promote him from the Italy U21s to the senior team.

The former Napoli boss granted the young left-back his debut during their 4-0 victory over Malta last Saturday at the Stadio San Nicola. Udogie came on for Inter Milan's left-back Federico Dimarco in the 79th minute.

Spalletti, the Azzurri boss, is confident that Udogie can bring a valuable contribution to the team in the match against the Three Lions.

"Udogie possesses exceptional skills," Spalletti mentioned to Sky Sport Italia via Metro UK. "Like all young players, he needs more experience, but he has a vital energy. In a game where physicality and strength matter, he can be a great asset to us."

While Spalletti has expressed his belief in the potential of the Tottenham rising star, it remains uncertain whether Udogie will start or come in as a substitute against Gareth Southgate's team.

If Udogie does play for Italy against England, it's important to note that he would still be eligible to represent Nigeria according to FIFA rules.
