Posted : 08 February 2024

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Island Stars Football Academy, Mr. Victor Akinmoyo, has unveiled the 2024 programs of the youth academy, including a trip to Hamburg, Germany, for an invitational cadet tournament.

According to Akinmoyo, the academy has lined up a series of developmental football activities for the students, ranging from Europe tours to Asia in Dubai, among other plans. He also expressed the academy's ambition to produce future Super Eagles players with high academic and practical standards.

``The Academy resumes on Jan. 9, and everything has been going well. We now have a new center in Lekki at Children International School (CIS), Freedom way.

``The academy boasts over 200 students, boys and girls.

``The 2024 academic program is so robust, and we need to let the public know about it. We want to develop our children mentally and physically, while we have scheduled a tournament for them called Laola Invitational competition in Hamburg, Germany.

``The young ones between the U-10 to U-18 will have the opportunity to participate. The competition is not for everybody but exclusively reserved for standout players.

``The academy also has another lined-up competition for our students to travel to Dubai for another competitive event in December this year.

Our U-17, 18, and 19 will also engage in a serious program that will entail a European trip for a month or two because we want to expose them to professional teams in Europe,'' he said.

Akinmoyo added that the academy has been equipped with an experienced coaching crew.

``Currently, we have about 17 coaches in the academy because we want the next level of football stars to come out of us, so we are encouraging more parents to enroll their children with us,'' he said.

The Head Coach of Island Stars Football Academy, Leonard Oshiyemi, said that the school boasts one of the best football academy curriculums in Nigeria.

``The curriculum of the school is one of the best, as we religiously follow the FIFA standards for the development of our young ones.

``We also emphasize the need for discipline among the students and encourage them to be bold and courageous.

``We want the young ones to develop and aspire to the highest level of their career while we also make sure that the principal thing, which is education, is well taken care of.

``We instill confidence in the children because if they lose confidence, there will be nothing left of them,'' he said.
