Posted : 18 August 2023
Celtic has made an official announcement through their website regarding the contract extension of Bosun Lawal, an adaptable Irish-Nigerian center-back.
The extension commits Lawal to the club until 2026. However, he is set to embark on a loan stint with Fleetwood Town, a team in the English Football League One, for the remainder of the season.
This strategic move aims to provide Lawal with additional playing time and experience, enhancing his growth and skills.
An exciting possibility awaits as he might make his debut appearance for Fleetwood Town in a game against Derby County at Pride Park Stadium.
Although Lawal has only participated in one first-team match for Celtic since his transfer from Watford in 2021, his potential hasn't gone unnoticed by the coaching staff.
Despite facing challenges in securing significant playing time, his dedication and promise have led to the club offering him a new contract.
Moreover, Lawal's contributions to Celtic's B team have been notable, aiding the team's triumphs in the Scottish Lowland League and the Premier League International Cup, while also playing a pivotal role in their success in the Glasgow Cup.
Notably, Lawal showcased his versatility during the pre-season tour, switching between his primary position as a center-back and displaying his competency as a midfielder, underlining his significance to the team's future endeavors.
