Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has been honored with the League Managers Association's Manager of the Year award.
The 38-year-old, who successfully led Ipswich back to the Premier League after a 22-year absence, outperformed notable competitors such as Manchester City's Pep Guardiola and Arsenal's Mikel Arteta to clinch the accolade.
Other contenders for the award included Everton's Sean Dyche, Aston Villa's Unai Emery, and Portsmouth's John Mousinho. Previously, Guardiola was recognized as the Premier League Manager of the Season, while Liverpool's Matt Beard received the Women's Super League Manager of the Season honor.
McKenna, originally from London but raised in Northern Ireland, transitioned from his role as a first-team coach at Manchester United to take the helm at Ipswich in December 2021, when the club was in League One. Under his leadership, Ipswich finished second in the Championship this season, just one point behind Leicester City, securing back-to-back promotions.
McKenna expressed his pride and excitement about the award, highlighting the honor of receiving it from Sir Alex Ferguson and the anticipation of competing against top managers in the Premier League.
