Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi acknowledged the impressive form of Bayer Leverkusen ahead of their Champions League clash, emphasizing the quality of the German side.
Leverkusen, who are on a five-match winning streak and have only lost three games in the past year and a half, are a formidable opponent. Inzaghi noted that Inter would need to be at their best, especially with several key defensive players missing, including Denzel Dumfries, who was sidelined due to a high fever.
Despite Inter's strong position in the competition, Inzaghi stressed that his team could not afford to be complacent. He highlighted Leverkusen's quick transitions when they lose possession, which demands attention to both defensive and offensive phases.
Inzaghi expressed confidence in his players' preparation, understanding the significance of the match while acknowledging the challenges posed by their opponents' attacking prowess.
Inter's defensive concerns were further exacerbated by the absences of Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi, leaving the squad short of options in defense. Inzaghi also mentioned injury worries surrounding Tajon Buchanan and Alessandro Bastoni but remained optimistic.
"We have some players absent, as everyone does at the moment, but I have total confidence in everyone," he assured, emphasizing his belief in the team's resilience despite the challenges.
