Inzaghi led Inter Milan to third-place finish in Serie A, Italian Cup, and Super Cup

Posted : 11 June 2023
Simone Inzaghi, the manager of Inter Milan, expressed his pride in his team's accomplishments despite their bitter loss to Manchester City in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Although Inzaghi's side fell 1-0 in the final due to a second-half goal from Rodri, the 47-year-old coach remained optimistic after a challenging season. He faced significant pressure but managed to guide his team to a third-place finish in Serie A, as well as winning the Italian Cup and Super Cup.

"On a night like this, I can't single out players who didn't perform up to par. I stated yesterday that I wouldn't trade my players for anyone else, and tonight the world saw why," Inzaghi told reporters

"They demonstrated to the entire world how well they stood up against Manchester City, a team renowned for their exceptional quality. I individually embraced my players because they were extraordinary, just like our fans. They deserved a different outcome, but I hope they were happy with the way the team performed tonight."

Inzaghi acknowledged that both he and his players faced criticism and admitted to losing games they should have won. However, he emphasized that valuable lessons were learned from those defeats. He also highlighted the team's four trophies won over the past two years.

"With this spirit, organization, and determination, I believe we will return to this stage in the future," he added confidently.
