International Friendlies: Madugu invites Ajibade, Nnadozie, 23 others for Algeria

Posted : 21 October 2024

Head Coach Justine Madugu has invited captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and 23 other players for two international friendly matches scheduled for the nine-time African champions, the Super Falcons, against their Algerian counterparts in Lagos at the end of this month.

The matches are set to take place at the picturesque Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos Island, on Saturday, October 26, and Tuesday, October 29, respectively.

It will be the first time the Falcons play international friendly matches on home soil since the Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament, held at the same venue three years ago.

Before that, they hosted the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon at the NFF/FIFA Goal Project in Abuja in 2014.

Madugu has also called up Turkey-based defender Oluwatosin Demehin, Comfort Folorunsho of Edo Queens, Spain-based Gift Monday, a long list of home-based professionals, and a couple of Falconets who featured in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia last month.

It will be the first regrouping of the Super Falcons since the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France this summer, following the departure of American coach Randy Waldrum.

The Algerian delegation is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday.

The Confederation of African Football has already approved the two games, which will be officiated by FIFA match officials from Benin Republic.
