Inter Milan Secures Second Place with Dominant Win Over Empoli

Inter Milan solidified their position in second place in Serie A on Wednesday, securing a decisive 3-0 victory against a 10-man Empoli. This win comes on the heels of a dynamic weekend that saw them draw 4-4 with Juventus. Empoli faced a significant setback when Saba Goglichidze was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Marcus Thuram just after the half-hour mark, leaving them to fight with a numerical disadvantage for the remainder of the match.

 

In the match, Inter's Davide Frattesi played a key role, scoring twice with a deflected shot in the 50th minute and a composed finish in the 67th minute. Lautaro Martinez capped off the scoring in the 79th minute following a defensive mistake from Empoli. Inter’s captain emphasized the importance of this win, particularly after Napoli's earlier victory against AC Milan, which kept them four points ahead at the top of the table with 25 points.

 

Juventus, however, found themselves in a precarious position as they dropped to fourth place after a 2-2 draw against Parma. Despite being unbeaten in Serie A this season, they fell behind early when Enrico Del Prato scored in the third minute. Weston McKennie managed to equalize in the first half, but another defensive error allowed Simon Sohm to regain the lead for Parma before Timothy Weah equalized shortly after halftime. This draw leaves Juventus seven points behind the league leaders, Napoli.

 

Atalanta climbed to third place with a 2-0 win over Monza, thanks to late goals from Lazar Samardzic and Davide Zappacosta. Meanwhile, Udinese suffered a 3-2 defeat to Venezia, who staged a comeback after being down 2-0, with Joel Pohjanpalo scoring twice from penalties. This win helped Venezia rise off the bottom of the table, demonstrating the intense competition in the league this season.
