Shaken but not down, Ikorodu City FC is experiencing a tough start to life in the Nigeria Premier Football League, but they see a lot of positives to pick from their opening four games.
The squad is filled with talented young players, and there is much to look forward to when the team begins to achieve high-flying numbers.
Ikorodu City FC's news indicates that Thankgod Chilaka, who recovered well before the last game and opened the club’s goal-scoring account in the NPFL, has maintained a clean bill of health and will be available for selection once again.
However, Ayomide Cole is expected to be out due to a knock, as is Fatai Adekunle. Midfielder Tosin Oyedokun is also out due to illness, while the rest of the squad is available for selection.
The club has achieved a new milestone against Nasarawa United by scoring for the first time in the top-flight league, which certainly shows that the team has the potential to start pouring in goals gradually.
Attention now turns to an October filled with five league games, beginning with a trip to Jos to face Plateau United.
Plateau United has established itself as a dominant figure in the NPFL, with stars such as long throw specialist Daniel Itodo, scoring defender Olawale Doyeni, and experienced goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka.
The Mbwas Magnut-coached side will be looking to return to winning ways at home after losing 1-2 to Plateau United at home on matchday three. They currently have five points from four games, with one win, two draws, and one loss.
Head to Head
This will be the first official meeting between Plateau United and Ikorodu City, giving Ikorodu City the chance to make history by scoring its first away goal in the NPFL.
The match kicks off at 4:00 PM at the Zaria Road Stadium, Jos.
