Iheanacho could reject Turkish clubs for Premier League comeback

Posted : 24 April 2024

Reports suggest that Kelechi Iheanacho, the Super Eagles striker, is contemplating leaving Leicester City as his contract with the club nears its conclusion this season.

Iheanacho has faced limited playing time since his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, sparking rumors of a potential departure from the Foxes.

Several Turkish clubs, including Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Besiktas, have expressed strong interest in securing the services of the Nigerian forward, viewing him as a valuable addition to their squads.

Despite Turkish interest, Crystal Palace has emerged as a contender for Iheanacho's signature, actively scouting Super Eagles talents and eyeing him alongside Nigerian stars Wilfred Ndidi and Raphael Onyedika.

While a move to Turkey may seem enticing, Iheanacho's heart appears to lean towards a return to the Premier League, driven by his desire for consistent playing time and the opportunity to prove himself in one of Europe's top leagues.

This season, Iheanacho has made 22 Championship appearances out of a possible 43, often serving as an alternative to Leicester's frontline duo of Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka.

Given his talent and potential, Iheanacho deserves a regular starting role, which could be offered by Crystal Palace if they present him with the chance to be a key figure in their squad.

Ultimately, the decision lies with Iheanacho and his representatives, but if Crystal Palace can provide a compelling offer aligned with his ambitions, a Premier League return could be in store for the talented Nigerian striker.
