Igor Akinfeev tops global loyalty charts with 21 seasons at CSKA Moscow

In an analysis of 60 football leagues worldwide, including 36 in Europe and 24 elsewhere, the title of the most loyal player belongs to 37-year-old Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev. Remarkably, Akinfeev has guarded the goalposts for CSKA Moscow for an impressive 21 seasons, amassing 755 appearances.

 

His illustrious career includes notable achievements such as winning the UEFA Cup, securing six league titles, clinching seven FA Cups, claiming seven Super Cups, and earning four Player of the Season trophies. Additionally, he was honored as the Russian Player of the Year in 2013 and boasts 111 caps for the national team.

 

In the top five European leagues, the leading positions for loyalty are occupied by two German players: Thomas Müller of Bayern Munich and Tony Janchka of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Each is currently navigating their 16th consecutive season with their respective teams.

Spain also contributes to the top five, featuring Iker Muniain and Oscar de Marcos from Athletic Bilbao, alongside Coca from Atletico Madrid. All three Spaniards are entrenched in their 15th consecutive season with their respective clubs.

 

Representing the Premier League in the top 10 is Seamus Coleman of Everton, who has showcased unwavering loyalty over 14 seasons. Notably, the French and Italian leagues lack representatives in this elite group, with Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo (12 seasons) and Anthony Lopes of Lyon (11.5 seasons) emerging as the most loyal players in their respective leagues.

 

Claiming the second position in this loyalty ranking is another Russian player, Rizvan Uchiev, who has been a steadfast presence in Ahmet Grozny's defense for an impressive 19 consecutive seasons. Shanghai Port proudly contributes two representatives to the top 10, with midfielder Huikang Kai and defender Wenjun Lu, who have been instrumental for 18 seasons.
