Former Nigeria international and ex-Manchester United player Odion Ighalo is poised to make a move to Saudi club Al-Wehda on a free transfer.
Having ended his contract with Al-Hilal in July, the 34-year-old striker is currently a free agent after an impressive season with Al-Hilal, where he scored 19 goals in 27 games.
Ighalo has been active in Saudi Arabia since February 2021, initially joining Al-Shabab from Chinese club SH Shenhua, and he has amassed an impressive record of 52 goals in 71 games in the Saudi Pro League for both Al-Shabab and Al-Hilal.
Having attracted interest from various Gulf clubs, Ighalo's decision has led him to choose to continue his career in Saudi Arabia by signing with Al-Wehda, making him their marquee signing for the summer.
According to Saudi news outlet Ariyadhiah, Ighalo is on his way to Mecca to finalize the deal. Notably, Al-Wehda, the third oldest club in Saudi Arabia, recently reached the final of the 2023 King Cup against Al-Hilal, earning them a spot in the Saudi Super Cup.
With his extensive experience gained from playing for clubs in Europe such as Udinese, Granada, Watford, and Manchester United, Ighalo is expected to bring his wealth of knowledge to Al-Wehda, enhancing their roster.
