Ifeoluwa Ibrahim: The rising star caught in the tug-of-war between Nigeria and England
Posted : 26 April 2023
The race for the services of Arsenal's youth team midfielder Ifeoluwa Ibrahim sees the English Football Association currently ahead of their Nigerian counterparts.
Ibrahim, who has been called up by England U15s head coach Neil Ryan for the prestigious Pinatar SuperCup 2023, will be playing for the Young Lions against the United States, Spain, and Japan during the tournament at the Pinatar Arena (San Pedro del Pinatar) in Murcia.
Excitingly, Ibrahim has been named in the starting lineup for England U15s' opening game against the United States on Wednesday.
Although this game is only a friendly, it does not provisionally cap-tie him to England.
Therefore, he can still suit up for the Golden Eaglets without requesting a change of association.
Despite being brought up in England, Ibrahim identifies as Nigerian and has been immersed in the Nigerian culture by his parents.
It is anticipated that the talented teenager, who is currently on schoolboy terms, will receive a scholarship offer from Arsenal soon due to the impressive progress he has made over the last few seasons.
