Howard Webb wants to use former football players as referees

In an effort to raise standards, chief refereeing officer Howard Webb has stated that he aims to recruit former players to become referees.
In addition to almost 300 Premier League games, UEFA tournaments, and international games, Webb served as a referee until being named chief refereeing officer of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) in 2022.
In an effort to enhance refereeing, Webb spoke about prospective changes on Saturday.
Webb talked about upcoming initiatives to increase the referees' knowledge and to train new officials, including former football players.
