Matchday 30 of the LaLiga EA Sports season will be remembered as a historic one in Spanish football. For the first time, seven away teams secured victories, while three matches ended in draws, leaving only FC Barcelona, Villarreal CF, and CD Leganés unbeaten at home. However, even those three clubs dropped points in their respective matches, with all home sides failing to secure a win.
This matchday marks the fourth instance in which no home team managed a victory, but it is the first time with such a high number of away wins. Previous occurrences of no home victories happened in the 1992/93, 2002/03, and 2005/06 seasons, but those rounds featured more draws than away wins.
The achievement of seven away wins in a matchday has been seen only four times before, the most recent being in Matchday 33 of the 2021/22 season.
Among the few home teams to avoid defeat, FC Barcelona managed a 1-1 draw against Real Betis, with both teams entering the match in strong form.
Villarreal CF also drew 0-0 at home against Athletic Club in a crucial clash for Champions League qualification, while CD Leganés shared a 1-1 draw with CA Osasuna in their Monday night match.
It was a particularly memorable weekend for away teams like Valencia CF, who claimed their first away win of the season with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Real Madrid, sealed by a last-minute goal from Hugo Duro.
RCD Espanyol also enjoyed a remarkable 4-0 win against Rayo Vallecano, which significantly boosted their hopes in the relegation battle. Other away victories were secured by RC Celta, Getafe CF, Atlético de Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Deportivo Alavés, making this a weekend to remember for LaLiga's traveling teams.
