Hearts of Oak, the Ghanaian football giants, are currently in search of a new head coach for the upcoming 2023/24 season after having worked with three coaches during the previous season: Samuel Boadu, Slavko Matic, and David Ocloo.
Boadu started the season and ended the club's trophy drought before being replaced by Serbian trainer Slavko Matic in October 2022, who departed in March 2023 due to fan dissatisfaction.
David Ocloo took charge until the end of the season, with Hearts of Oak finishing in 12th position with 46 points and facing a series of disappointing results in their last five matches.
According to reports from Kumasi FM, the leadership of Hearts of Oak is in advanced discussions with former Nigerian assistant coach, Paul Aigbogun, to take over as head coach for the next season.
Aigbogun is recognized as an experienced coach in Nigeria, having previously managed clubs like Warri Wolves and two-time CAF Champions League winners, Enyimba.
The Phobians are expected to announce their new technical team next week, with Paul Aigbogun likely to lead the coaching staff.
Additionally, the club is reportedly in talks with former Ghana international player Laryea Kingston to join as the assistant coach and Dutch coach Rene Hiddink to fill the Sporting Director role.
These strategic appointments aim to strengthen Hearts of Oak's coaching and management setup in preparation for the upcoming season.
