Heartland Queens' attacking sensation, Lucky Mary, has been included in the 25-woman squad invited to the U-20 women’s national team camp ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Burundi.
The head coach of the team, Coach Christopher Danjuma, revealed the team list earlier this week, and Heartland Queens' forward has been certified fit to lead the attack against Burundi when the qualifiers kick off.
Heartland Queens currently top the NWFL Premiership Group A table going into the new year, and Mary has been instrumental in their achievements with goals and numerous assists.
Lucky Mary was awarded the Woman of the Match (WOTM) in Heartland Queen’s NWFL Oriental Derby win against Abia Angels at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba. She also achieved the same feat against Confluence Queens at their home turf, Dan Anyiam Stadium.
Mary will join the rest of the squad in camp at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, before December 27, 2023.
Nigeria defeated Tanzania 3-2 on aggregate in the previous round to set up a clash with Burundi.
Burundi will host the first leg of the fixture in Bujumbura within the weekend of 12th – 14th January, with the return leg at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Saturday, 20th January.
The winner of the two-legged encounter will secure a ticket to the 24-team final tournament in Colombia.
