Heartland of Owerri's Head Coach has rallied support for his team as they strive to avoid relegation in the ongoing 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Obi expressed confidence that the Naze Millionaires could escape relegation, emphasizing the team's potential after their convincing 3-0 victory over Gombe United in a crucial NPFL Match Day 33 fixture at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, on Sunday.
The match saw Promise Anyanwu open the scoring in the 30th minute, giving Heartland a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Chukwudi Esobe extended the lead just four minutes into the second half, followed by Anyanwu's second goal of the night with only two minutes remaining.
Obi, visibly pleased with the outcome, highlighted how the victory would boost the players' confidence for the remaining five games of the season. He stressed the importance of maintaining momentum and fighting for every point.
The coach also addressed the team's slow start in the opening half, attributing it to a deviation from their initial game plan. However, he commended the players for regaining their focus after halftime and delivering a strong performance.
With 15 points still up for grabs in the remaining fixtures, Heartland must secure maximum points and rely on other teams' results to climb out of the relegation zone. Despite the challenges, Obi remained steadfast in his belief that nothing is impossible.
He expressed determination to continue fighting until the end, emphasizing a no-retreat, no-surrender mentality. Obi's unwavering optimism reflected the team's resilience and determination to defy the odds and secure survival in the NPFL.
