Heartland FC soaks in relegation waters, fails to record a single win in eight matches

Heartland FC of Owerri continues to face woes in the ongoing 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), as they have now failed to win a single match in eight consecutive games, recording five draws and three losses. They currently sit deep in the last position of the 20-team league table.
The latest uninspiring league match took place on Wednesday when another underperforming team, Bayelsa United, forced the Naze Millionaires to a 2-2 draw in Owerri. Surprisingly, Heartland FC had been in control of the game, leading by two goals until the 81st minute.
However, things took a different turn after the 81st minute when Bayelsa United FC scored two goals in one minute, courtesy of substitute Emmanuel Onyekwere and the in-form Robert Mizo, leveling the score at 2-2.
The Naze Millionaires had opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a header from Promise Anyanwu, putting them in a 1-0 lead. It wasn't until the second half, in the 75th minute, that the Owerri Millionaires secured their second goal through Chinedu Ike, marking his first of the season.
Unfortunately, the Naze Millionaires failed to sustain the momentum as Bayelsa United FC came from two goals down to level the score at 2-2. They remain at the bottom of the table and are the only team without a win in the NPFL this season.
