Harry Kane Cleared for England Duty Despite Injury Scare, Konsa, Mainoo, Gibbs-White Out

Posted : 08 October 2024

Harry Kane, captain of the England national team, has been confirmed to have avoided a structural injury and will stay with the squad for their upcoming Nations League matches. Bayern Munich shared this update after Kane was evaluated by the Football Association’s medical team. Following a close contest in Bayern’s weekend match, where he collided with an Eintracht Frankfurt player and showed signs of discomfort, Kane’s condition was promptly assessed. Bayern's physiotherapists initially treated his right leg on the field before he was substituted during the 3-3 draw.

After the match, Kane travelled directly to England on Monday for further medical review by the FA's team. Bayern Munich released a statement affirming that the examination cleared Kane of any significant injury, allowing him to remain with the England squad for the international fixtures. This decision alleviated concerns about his availability, given his current stellar form with 10 goals in eight appearances across all competitions for Bayern.

Meanwhile, the Football Association announced that Ezri Konsa, Kobbie Mainoo, and Morgan Gibbs-White will miss England’s games against Greece and Finland due to injuries. Konsa sustained a hamstring injury early in Aston Villa’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United, exiting the game just 12 minutes in. Mainoo, who had a minor injury concern in Manchester United's Europa League clash with Porto, returned to play against Villa but was substituted late in the match. Gibbs-White also faces injury setbacks after Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

England’s FA has confirmed that no replacement players will be called up at this time. The national team is set to face Greece on Thursday at Wembley Stadium, followed by a match against Finland three days later as they continue their Nations League campaign.
