Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has urged his team to improve their focus in LaLiga as they aim to recover from a disappointing spell in domestic competition. Despite performing well in the Champions League, where they have already secured a spot in the last 16 and sit second in their group, their league form has been lackluster. Barcelona have managed just one win in their last eight LaLiga matches and are now seven points behind league leaders Real Madrid and five adrift of Atletico Madrid, who sit in second place.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's home game against Valencia, Flick acknowledged the team's struggles, particularly after last weekend's 1-1 draw against Getafe. "I think in LaLiga, we’re missing 5-10% of our intensity, and this is what we have to change," Flick said in a press conference.
Reflecting on the Getafe match, he emphasized that the failure to secure three points was down to Barcelona’s lack of sharpness rather than the opposition's efforts. "We’re not playing with enough focus, and that needs to change. I expect the team to stay concentrated from start to finish."
Valencia, currently 19th in the standings, have shown signs of improvement under their new coach Carlos Corberan. Flick praised their defensive stability and acknowledged the challenge of breaking them down. "They’ve solidified their defense and play good football," he remarked. Meanwhile, Barcelona's title rivals, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, are set to face Villarreal and Valladolid, respectively, on Saturday, adding further pressure on the Catalans to return to winning ways.
