It's the third and final group game of the ongoing Gusau/Ahlan Pre-season Tournament for the Peace Boys, who must avoid defeat against their NPFL opponents, Niger Tornadoes, to finish at the top of Group A.
It was certainly a gritty duel across both ends of the pitch, but Plateau United showed quality in defensive organization, build-up, transition, pressing, possession, and combination play but failed to break through the opposition’s defense.
Sadiq Adamu's relentless press stood out and nearly yielded results as the closest attempt of the game across both halves, leaving the scores goalless at full time.
The result leaves the Peace Boys at the top of Group A with 7 points, while Niger Tornadoes, with 5 points, also secured their place in the competition's quarterfinal stages.
Despite the lack of goals, there were key landmarks in the game.
First, goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka has now kept his third consecutive clean sheet in the competition, with hopes of continuing this trajectory.
Similarly, youth team sensation Dayong Elisha made his second senior team appearance since securing promotion to the main squad.
Also joining him in gaining promotion to the main team are the quartet of Dasok Nanribet, Stephen Gold, Paul Magit, and Collins Areneous Leshak.
Worthy of mention is the naming of Niger Tornadoes' midfielder, Papa Daniel, as man of the match following his commanding performance in midfield.
Following separate election victories that earned them positions as Vice Chairman of the Association of Chief Security Officers of the Nigerian Premier Football League and Secretary of the Association of Chairmen of Supporters Clubs of the NPFL, the duo of Itumu David and John Pam Sheku were presented with award plaques by the Plateau United Supporters Club through the General Manager, Habila Hosea Mutla, as a mark of respect for their outstanding achievements thus far.
