Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed doubts about midfielder Phil Foden joining the England squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Ireland and Finland due to illness.
The 24-year-old, selected by interim England coach Lee Carsley, was expected to participate in the fixtures on September 7 in Dublin and at Wembley three days later. However, Foden has only made one appearance for City this season, coming off the bench in their Premier League opener against Chelsea two weeks ago.
Guardiola indicated that Foden's participation with the national team is unlikely, stating, "I don't think so right now. I think he will not go but I don't know. He doesn't feel well. But national teams, they decide."
Foden, who has earned 41 caps for England, was a key player during Euro 2024 in Germany, starting in all of their matches.
