Pep Guardiola has expressed his concern over the incidents involving Phil Foden and Jack Grealish during the Manchester derby, revealing that both players "do not feel good" following their encounters with fans.
Grealish was allegedly slapped by a 20-year-old man as he entered the Old Trafford tunnel after the 0-0 draw on Sunday, while Foden was subjected to derogatory chants about his mother during the first half. Despite these incidents, Guardiola emphasized that the issue is more about broader societal problems than specific blame on Manchester United.
Guardiola acknowledged the emotional impact on both players but stressed that they would move forward, stating, "It's a crazy world. Nobody is away from that." He reframed the situation as not being solely about United, pointing out that such behavior is not confined to one club or even football, highlighting that it is a societal issue that transcends individual incidents.
Although Manchester United privately condemned the chants directed at Foden, the Football Association chose not to press charges against the club.
Meanwhile, Guardiola’s focus is now on the upcoming match against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium, where his side will be without several key players, including Erling Haaland and Rodri, due to injuries. Despite their injury setbacks, City are looking to continue their push for a higher position in the Premier League.
