England manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Manchester City's Treble-winning players are available for the Euro 2024 qualifier against Malta. Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker, John Stones, and Kalvin Phillips joined the national squad after City's Champions League victory.
Southgate stated that all five players are fit to play in Friday's match, although he is still deliberating on whether it is a wise decision.
Southgate acknowledged the players' remarkable achievement and emphasized the need to assess their individual responses to the recent events. Grealish, in particular, has attracted attention for his involvement in the celebrations following City's triumph.
After the game in Istanbul, the team traveled to Manchester and later had a party in Ibiza. They returned for the club's trophy parade and had another celebration in Manchester.
Regarding the fitness of the players, Southgate mentioned that everyone is in good shape. However, he acknowledged the complexities of making decisions, especially considering the emotional high experienced by the players after the weekend's game.
Southgate closely monitors the players and their activities, regardless of their location. He expressed confidence in handling such situations, citing previous experiences, including the Champions League final involving Tottenham and Liverpool in 2019.
The focus is now on the team as they prepare for the upcoming qualifier, with Southgate emphasizing the team's excellent training and strong sense of determination.
