Gombe United FC's coach, Babanganaru, expresses optimism about the team's progress in the league
With three points secured after leading Gombe United FC to a convincing victory over the reigning league champions, Enyimba International FC of Aba, Mohammed Babanganaru, the Technical Adviser of the Nigeria Premier Football League side, has stated that the team will continue to improve as the league unfolds.
Recall that Gombe United triumphed on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over the reigning champions, Enyimba International, on Matchday 2 of the league.
The former manager of Kano Pillars praised the players' efforts and extended his gratitude to the fans for their tremendous support.
"When you look at the team, it's entirely new, as most of last season's players have departed," he remarked. "We also started our preparations very late. Nevertheless, I believe the team will make progress as the league progresses.
"To be honest, I am truly grateful for the fans' support. They have been extremely cooperative and have shown us their full support," he added.
Acknowledging the upcoming challenge in Ibadan, the former Kano Pillars boss emphasized their focus on securing all three points.
"We will be facing another traditional team, one with character and a strong attitude, but our aim is to secure the full three points. I urge the fans to continue praying for us," he affirmed.
The victory over the People's Elephant has boosted the morale of Gombe United, particularly after suffering two defeats against them in the previous season.
Gombe United will be the guests of Shooting Stars on Matchday 3.
