Gombe State has announced that it is gearing up for the upcoming 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, with preparations in full swing.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Adamu Inuwa Ibrahim, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to participating in both the zonal elimination in Taraba and the main event in Asaba.
"We're still preparing as usual, and God willing, we'll attend the zonal elimination in Taraba and the National Youth Games in Asaba," the Commissioner said.
The zonal eliminations are scheduled to take place from August 28th to September 1st, 2024, in Jalingo, Taraba State, while the National Youth Games will run from September 9th to 19th, 2024.
Ibrahim also acknowledged the consistent support from the state government, particularly from Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
He emphasized that the administration’s commitment to grassroots sports development has been instrumental in the state’s sporting progress.
"The government is doing its best to support grassroots sports development in the state. We’ll continue to thank the Governor for his continuous support and will continue to count on him," Ibrahim added.
