The finalists for the Best Men's Player category at the 14th Globe Soccer Awards have been unveiled, and Victor Osimhen, the recently crowned African Player of the Year, is among them.
Known for his clinical striking, Osimhen secured the Serie A top scorer award last season and topped the goal-scoring charts in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The 24-year-old, also named AIC Player of the Year, stands as the first African contender for the Best Men's Player award at the Globe Soccer Awards, with the winner announced on January 19.
The impressive shortlist includes Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Jr, Kylian Mbappe, Mohamed Salah, Karim Benzema, Lionel Messi, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Meanwhile, Asisat Oshoala, a six-time African Women's Player of the Year, remains in the running for the Best Women's Player category at the Globe Soccer Awards.
However, Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface didn't secure a spot on the final shortlist for the Power Horse Emerging Player of the Year.
The Power Horse Emerging Player finalists include Saud Abdulhamid, Omar Fayed, Josko Gvardiol, Firas Al-Buraikan, Enzo Fernández, Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham, Gavi, Moisés Caicedo, and Arda Guler.
The award ceremony will take place at the five-star Atlantis, The Palm, on January 19.
